things i did last night and today
Watched Heroes. Gahhhhddammit.
Caught the last half of Brokeback Mountain. It seems to be a collection of shots of Wyoming scenery and Jake Glyllenhall and Heath Ledger being faggoty. I was unimpressed.
Knit. My scarf is the length from my foot to my navel now, which means it's nowhere near close to completion.
Freeform sketched in my sketchbook for the first time in I don't know how long. In a moment of incoherence, wrote down the phrase "neverending circlespiral of l.u.v. radiation". I'm not quite sure what that meant, but it sounded cool at the time.
Sang. I can do that again, which means I'm getting well. Huzzah.
Watched Summer of Sam. It's a Spike Lee joint. I forgot how much I liked that film, the complete lack of resemblance of the film's Sam to David Berkowitz notwithstanding. Adrian Brody, John Leguizamo, Mira Sorvino and Bebe Neuwerth in one film about a psychotic serial killer? How could one possibly go wrong?
Finished Neal Stephenson's The Diamond Age. Postcyberpunk SF; good stuff. The narration was a little jilty, but considering the novel concerns roughly five different interlinking stories over the course of about ten years, it performs admirably.
Reread more of Brian Michael Bendis' run of Daredevil. Another forgotten gem; Bendis handles the dichotomy of Matt Murdock's lawyer life and his crime-fighting vigilante Daredevil alter ego very, very well. And David Mack's waterolor/collage/amazing art is a bonus, as are, later in the series, Alex Maleev's pen and ink work. In short, it's just fantastic. A+ would read again.
Cut my finger on one of the chairs in Downtown Plaza- oh, I'm sorry, Westfield Shoppingtown. Ow. Wtf. Well, at least I know have a spiffy pirate bandage.
Pioneered a stunning new trend in fashion- sometimes hoodie zippers work together! So I either looked really cool or made a complete ass out of myself in public all day. Thin line, thin line.
Replied to like ten helped wanted ads. that reminds me, if anyone else wants to let me use them as a reference, I'd like to have acces to like, 25. That'd be pretty darn cool.
Applied at American Eagle. The application is the size of a postcard, so why not? I gave it to the manager, and she asked why I wanted to work there. My reply? "Uh, money? and I like the product." Which is true, actually. Of course, she immediately got a look on her face that told me that my witty retort conveniently doubled as the exact wrong answer. So much for brutal honesty.
Wrote a rent check that made my need for a job even more clear.
Encountered a Candicepants on the light rail as she was getting off at her stop. We had a very 40's moment in which we blew kisses, hugged through a partition, and generally showed our intense passionate bubbling throbbing less than three for each other.
I've just been a busy busy bee.
